Elisha Weakley

Abstract

Weakley was born in Shelbyville in 1838. At the time of his enlistment he worked in a dry goods store. He enlisted first as a sergeant in Co. A, 16th Regiment, Indiana Infantry, August 31, 1861. He mustered out in May, 1862. In December, 1863, he re-enlisted as a private with Captain Muth's Company 13th Indiana Cavalry. When he mustered out in 1865 he was captain of Company E. After the war he returned to Shelbyville and in 1867 married Harriet Wood. He was employed as a bookkeeper and freight agent. He died in 1922
