George, William, Frank, Lucius, and Edmund Ball

Abstract

It was Edmund’s wish that the Ball Brothers Foundation be formed, and from his estate came its original funding in 1926. One of the foundation’s first projects was the creation of Ball Memorial Hospital, which opened in Muncie in 1929. Other philanthropic efforts went to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, the Lincoln Memorial Union in Spencer County, several colleges, and the YMCA and YWCA.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
