Grissom on Telephone with President Lyndon B. Johnson

By NASA

Abstract

As Young looks on, Grissom receives a congratulatory ship to shore call from President Lyndon B. Johnson while onboard the USS Intrepid following the successful "Gemini 3" flight. Young got in some trouble following the mission for smuggling a corned beef sandwich onto the flight. Grissom ate only a few bites before stowing the contraband for the remainder of the journey.Destination Indiana - Gus Grissom, Hoosier Astronau
