Beck's Mill, South of Salem, Indiana, Ca. 1900

Abstract

Beck’s Mill is a historic gristmill that was built by George Beck & sons. There have been three mills on the same location, built in 1808, 1825, & 1864. After building forts to protect the mill from Indians in 1812, a settlement was founded. The mill survived from years of neglect and was restored in 2008.Destination Indiana Washington County JourneyNote on back of postcard: Becks Mill Built 1808 The land of yesterday the land surrounding is just about as it was when the mill was first built- the small stuff has been kept down but the larger timber is still there still owned and run by the Beck Family. 6 miles south west sale
