Abstract

The village of Brighton was laid out in 1836 by John Kromer and originally called Lexington. Due to confusion regarding post offices the name was changed to Brighton 40 years later. In the upper right corner is the blacksmithing, carriage & wagon shop.Destination Indiana LaGrange County JourneyAddressed to: Miss Alvena Shafer, Sturgis, Mich. Message: Lima, Ind. If you should ever happen to come through this city stop off it is where I stay. Is that car at the L.S.R.R. yet? Ha! Ha
