Abstract

Pittsburg was platted in 1838 and a dam was built nearby for waterpower and a side-cut for Erie Canal traffic. The town filled with mills and warehouses until 1856 when the Wabash Railroad came to Delphi. The dam was dynamited in 1881 ending the canal traffic.Carroll County Journe
