Abstract

The first oil well was drilled in the Geneva area in 1887. After oil was discovered on Charles D. Porter's farmland, his wife, Gene Stratton-Porter, used the wealth to design and build a new home in Geneva near the Limberlost Swamp.Adams County Journe
