Studies on the Spore Propagation and Cultivation of Leatherleaf Fern

Tree fern debris is the best germination for leatherleaf fern propagation by using spore. The best time for leatherleaf fern spore sowing is autumn in Taitung district because high summer temperature can affect the Prothallium growth and cause it browning even dying. Leatherleaf fern, a sciophyte, requires shade for commercial production. Desired shade level, according to the ferneries located, must be adjusted properly. The results of cultivation trial in Taitung district show that 80% shade level had superior cut leaf yield, leaf length, leaf width and leaf weight to 40% shade level. There have significant difference between them. Low shade level may cause the leaf color yellow, the short cut leaf, and no economical value.麗莎蕨孢子繁殖試驗以蛇木屑為播種之介質最佳,播種季節以秋季最適。夏季因高溫影響原葉體易褐化死亡。麗莎蕨栽培試驗進行期間共三年,第一年,主區以80%、60%、40%之遮光三種處理,副區以Peters N-P2O5-K2O為20-20-20之肥料稀釋333ppm、500ppm、1000ppm三種處理。第二年於1994.7月至1995.6月每月進行麗莎蕨切葉數調查,以主區80%遮光度之處理表現最佳,達顯著水準其月平均初葉數為32.9枝,葉長30.3㎝,葉寬15.8㎝,葉厚0.18㎜,葉種3.45g,瓶插壽命為18.9日。40%遮光度處理表現最差,其月平均切葉數為16.6枝,平均葉長18.5㎝,葉寬10.5㎝,葉厚0.18㎜,葉重1.78g,瓶插壽命為16.0日。副區以1000ppm、500ppm、333ppm不同Peters肥料濃度處理,調查結果所得數據差異並不顯著。第三年,主區以原遮光之處理於夏季再加一層50%遮光網遮光,副區以樹皮堆肥、蔗渣堆肥、對照,三種處理進行試驗。於1995.7月至1996.6月每月進行切葉數調查,以主區80+50%遮光度雙層遮光之處理表現最佳,其平均葉長、葉寬、葉重均達顯著水準。其月平均切葉數為26.9枝,葉長27.5㎝,葉寬13.5㎝,葉厚0.14㎜,葉重2.55g,瓶插壽命22.6日。副區以不同肥料之處理,處理間差異並不顯著
