DEVELOPMENT OF EFFECTIVE ALGORITHMS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF FAST NON-DISTORTING CODES

Abstract

The information compression method based on the fast arithmetic coding surpassing the known methods in the efficiency has been developed and realized. The method predicting the probabilities of the current source symbols according to several preceding symbols has been constructed. The dynamic memory distribution for storage of the code tree assemblies enabling to use more effectively the operating computer memory has been applied. The optimization methods for distribution of the initial source symbol probabilities in the code tree assemblies have been developed. The fast information compression methods using both the fixed dictionary and one being adaptive to the source statistics changes and surpassing in speed the known methods 2 - 3 times have been developed and realized. The developed information compression method is used in the State Scientific-Technical Library (Siberian Division of Russian Academy of Sciences) for compression of the data banks. The work results are used in the educational process at lecturing of the courses "System programming" and "Computer engineering and programming", in the research of the Siberian State Academy of Telecommunication and Information Science "Development of Optimal Information Coding Methods". The basic scientific principles have been used at design of the statistic transcoder "Obyedinenie" applied at present in the cosmic communication centresAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
