Crack resistance and quality of high-manganese steel of railway spiders

Abstract

Purpose of the work: enhancement of the reliability and prolongation of the service life of railway spiders with high-manganese steel cast parts as a result of improvement of technical requirements to them and usage of new production technologies. The work includes the rerformance of the investigation of the cyclic durability, cyclic and static crack resistance and macro- and microstructure, and a local X-ray microspectrometry. The results of the work include the estimation of the spider steel crack resistance, investigation of the influence of the loading conditions and structural parameters, revealing and explanation of a specific fatigue behaviour of this steel. Causes of failures are found and proposals are made on prevention of spider failures because of tail-piece cracks. Optimization is accomplished for the chemical composition of steel for the spiders for the existing and more strict technological discipline, higher demands are imposed on the quality of products and their quality classification is developedAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
