Subject of investigation: low- and medium-power DC commutator machines. Purpose of the work: improvement of the design of the DC machines on the basis of their design and technological succession after AC machines and enhancement of the effectiveness of production. Use was made of the fundamentals of the commutation theory and design of electric machines. The experimental check of the results of the theoretical investigation was made with the help of methods of identification and comparative analysis on testing stands. The results of the work include the development of methods for calculating the parameters of a distributed excitation winding, methods for calculating a compensation winding and methods for estimating the commutation stability. Developed and introduced in mass production are DC commutator machines of a new design, series 4P, and technological modules for their production: flexible manufacturing systems for production of armatures and stators, computer-aided production system, winding semi-automatic machine YaPND-34F3. Smooth-core DC commutator machines are developed and introduced in production. The developed calculation methods can be used for design and investigation purposes.
