Methods for polarization discrimination of radar targets and development of discriminator realizing them

Abstract

The synthesis of the optimum and quasi-optimum algorithms for processing of signals according to the polarization providing the best detection and discrimination of radio signals within the limits of the Neumann - Pearson number and middle risk has been performed; the optimum polarization types of the receiving and transmitting antennas have been determined; the invariance of the multidimensional probability distribution density has been proved. The algorithm for polarization interchange discrimination of the windows, corner false reflectors and emphasizing structure of the extended targets realizing the discriminator-compensator principles has been used in the coherent radar unit (RU) based on the created SU "U-502" of 3-cm wave band. The algorithm of polarization discrimination has been introduced in RU developed in the State Scientific-Production Enterprise "Radar-MMS" (St.-Petersburg). The test results of the experimental RU mock-up with specified discriminator have shown a high efficiency. The hum suppression was provided 7,6 dB on an avewrage.
