The object of investigation: the basic components of the basaltophenoplasts as the binder, strengthening the fibres, the thermal-regulating and friction fillers. The purpose of the work: to scientifically justify a selection of the FPKM asbestos-free composition on the base of the phenoloformaldehyde rosin and basalt fibre, to investigate the influence of basic components, methods and conditions of its modification and combination on the operating properties of the basaltophenoplasts, to choose the optimum composition and the modes of its reprocessing into the brake cover plates.Established has been the influence of the boundary layers on the properties of the hybridofilled polymer materials. The methods of creating the boundary layers of the preset structure and properties have been offered. The effect of the elastophycated matrix on the tribotechnical properties of the material has been revealed. The asbestos-free materials of the friction purpose for the different conditions of operations.In terms of the qualities and technology, these materials are on a par with the traditional asbopolymer materials. The hub and disc brake cover plates made from the basaltophenoplasts have been introduced in service.
