Peculiarities of ecology, protection and rational utilization of the brown bear in the central caucasus

Abstract

The object of investigation: a brown bear and the ecology. The purpose of the work: on the basis of the number, biotopic distribution of the population structure, food properties, winter ecology and the role of the brown bear in the biogeocenosis, to develop the recommendations on his protection and rational usage. The insufficiently explored the peculiarities of the brown bear ecology and his role in the mountain biogeocenoses have been described. The possibility of the bear hunting in the specialized hunting areas has been considered. The practical recommendations have been given on the protection and increase in number of the brown bear in the North Caucasus. The methods for counting the number of this species in mountains have been developed. The materials on the ecology of the brown bear have been placed in the Nature Annals of the Teberda park and have been used in the preparation of the Karachaevo-Cherkesia Red BookAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
