Optical losses in quartz classes in a spectral range of maximum transparency

Abstract

The aim to be attained is the detailed study of optical losses in the field of maximum transparency (0.2-1.1 mu m) and caused by the hydroxyl addition (1.1-3.0 mu m) of quartz glasses of a various type in connection with the features of their technology, as well as depending on the heat treatments and small doses of gamma-radiation. The quantitative spectr of optical losses in commercial and prototype quartz glasses in the field of their maximum transparency were first studied. The influence of the process of moling, heat treatment and small doses of gamma-radiation was shown. The nature of significant differences of spectra was revealed. A possibility of control and introduction of scientifically substantiated changes in the technology of quartz glasses, as well as radiation monitoring of low doses of gamma radiation, optimal preparation of units, their rejection to increase the standartized parameters of the quality of higz-transparent glasses was confirmed.
