Abstract

In a large computing centre, e.g. the Central Institute for Applied Mathematics of the Research Centre Juelich (KFA), the complexity of the installation of computers and networks makes it necessary to support the task of documenting inventory data by a programming system. The objective of this work is to develop a computational system, which stores fundamental data of the DP-components and interlink them in a mode, that allows to reflect the configuration of computers and networks. For the sollution of this problem, a database has been developped, that extends the relational database-model. Since many users have to access the database at the same time, a client server architecture is implemented. A graphical user interface supports the work with the inventory-management-system by supplying masks and menus corresponding to the object processed.
