Abstract

The purpose of this final report is a general characterization of the Flight Model of BIOMAUS which was realized in 1991. The BIOMAUS (Miniature Biology Facility) is an automated life support system (LSS) which provides a controlled atmosphere for Experiments with plants and other biological specimens under microgravity. It has been designed in order to study scientific questions in the areas of gravitational biology, especially plant growth and plant physiology as well as cell and developmental biology.
