Failure of inorganic glass under the effect of proton radiation

Abstract

The irradiation of inorganic glass with protons with the energy of 100 MeV is accompanied by irradiation electrification with subsequent electric breakdown of the introduced charge. The physical mechanism of failure in electrical volume discharge of proton-irradiated brittle dielectrics of the type of inorganic glass has not as yet been studied.
