Going Dutch! Acculturation of foreign students into Dutch international schools

By Margot Porton

This article reports on a study of the acculturation of 15 to 19 year old pupils in three Dutch international schools. As teachers working closely with pupils who have lived for periods of their lives outside The Netherlands, we felt it invaluable to have more knowledge regarding their acculturation so as to understand better their mindset and experiences. Our research has also shed light on the 'true' culture of these Dutch international schools
