Hydrodynamic correlation functions in nematic liquid crystals

Abstract

The result, recently discovered by Forster, that the strength factors of the nonpropagating modes in certain hydrodynamic correlation functions in nematic liquid crystals are not fully determined by the hydrodynamic matrix is reconsidered. Using time reversal and space inversion symmetry one finds that all the unspecified strength factors can be expressed in terms of three undetermined constants
