David's score: a more appropriate dominance ranking method than Clutton-Brock et al.'s index

There are many procedures, of varying complexity, for\ud ranking the members of a social group in a dominance\ud hierarchy. Roughly, two types of method can be distinguished,\ud one in which the dominance matrix is reorganized\ud such that some numerical criterion, calculated for\ud the matrix as a whole, is minimized or maximized, and\ud one that aims to provide a suitable measure of individual\ud overall success, from which a rank order can be directly\ud derived
