Study on the Flood Disaster in the Yosasagawa River Basin in 1998

Abstract

1998年の余笹川の洪水は,調査対象区間の洪水流量が河道の平均的な流下能力の4倍前後と極めて大きかったため,激甚な被害をもたらした。水害に重要な関わりを持つ新流路の形成の問題を水害の実態に基づいて検討した。さらに,水害と土地利用との関係についてそれらの地域性に着目して検討し,土地利用の背景にあるそれぞれの河川区間の自然条件および社会条件について考察を加えた。その結果,水害と土地利用とは密接な関係があり,土地利用は流域の自然条件に支配されていることがわかった。Severe flood disasters were occurred in the Yosasagawa River basin due to heavy rainfall on August 27, 1998. The discharge of flood flow was about fore times as large as the average capacity discharge of riverchannel in the investigated section. In this paper, the cause of some new channels formed by inundation wasdiscussed by investigating the field and aerial photographs taken before and after the flood around theYosasagawa River.
