By Stefan Rennick Egglestone, Andy Boucher, Tom Rodden, Andy Law, Jan Humble, Chris Greenhalgh and Saul Greenberg

Abstract

In this case study, we describe our use of ECT, a tool\ud intended to simplify the design and development of\ud network-spanning applications. We have used ECT\ud throughout the course of a two-year collaboration,\ud which has involved individuals with expertise in a\ud variety of fields, including interaction design and\ud computer systems engineering. We describe our\ud experiences with this tool, with a particular focus on its\ud emerging role in helping us to structure our\ud collaboration. We conclude by presenting lessons that\ud we have learned, and by suggesting future directions\ud for the development of tools to support the design of\ud network-spanning applications
