[Portrait of an Aboriginal fisherman, ca. 1880s] [picture].

Title devised by cataloguer.; Rex Nan Kivell Collection NK6852.; Condition: Adhesive tape in each corner; some tape and adhesive residue around perimeter; overall smudge marks.; Inscription: 'Rocks on the hills at Cape Upstart, East Coast of Australia'--Handwritten in ink on reverse (refers to watercolour on front of sheet). Images include: Pencil sketches of an Aboriginal man walking in water carrying fish and a fishing spear; five pencil sketches of dingoes; one drawing of a parrot. All are on the reverse of a watercolour entitled: 'Rocks on the hills at Cape Upstart, East Coast of Australia'. There is a slight chance these drawings are by Harden S. Melville (c. 1820-1879), as he was in the Cape Upstart region in the 1840s and did a drawing of a river and kangaroos at Cape Upstart, later published in his 'Sketches in Australia' in London, 1849, plate VII
