Experimental amblyopia

Abstract

The current literature concerning experimentally-induced strabismic, deprivation and anisometropic amblyopia is reviewed. It is demonstrated that there are at least two types of experimental strabismic amblyopia---one in which the retina is the initial locus of the amblyopia, and the other in which behaviourally measured acuity loss in cats is accompanied by normal retinal ganglion cell acuities. Classical theories are discussed in the light of new data
