Refractive surgery and optical aberrations

Abstract

The measurement of refractive-surgery-induced change of corneal aberrations was performed. The surgery altered the curvature of the central area of the cornea, reducing it in myopes and increasing it in hyperopes. It was found that the dramatic increase in spherical aberration is caused by a surgery-induced change in corneal asphericity. © 2001 Optical Society of AmericaPeer Reviewe
