Digital Cereal Grain Analyzer

Abstract

It is a proven fact that certain constituents absorb light energy at specific wavelengths. By bombarding a sample with a very narrow band at a specific wavelength of NIR light, constituents of a sample can be predicted. The light energy absorbed by the samples is inversely, proportional to the reflected light. A computer controls the system, uses Near Infrared (NIR) technology and statistical mathematical treatment to predict the percent of constituent concentration of moisture, oil and protein within a sample The system consists of modular electronics, NIR source, NIR filters and detectors, which automatically scan different wavelengths and thus allow displaying, the percentage contents within a sample The software for the system has been developed using advanced GU1 tools (Visual C++) to make it user friendly and compatible with the existing database applications.
