Vladimír Rula, the prince of in situ film

By Helena Všetečková

The topic of my work is Mr. Vladimír Rula, in situ film maker (documentarist) from Česká Třebová. He is known among amateurs but his work has not been broadly covered in wirtten works. Owing to the fact that in situ film is a rather unknown and little studied field, I tried to describe him through the perspective of the in situ art and poetry/novel; the characteristic of Vladimír Rula is derived from our talks and from interviews with other artists who either know him or his work. During his life Mr. Vladimír Rula has made hundreds, maybe thousands of films. Many of them were presented at festivals of amateur films, others were seen only by his wife Slávka. It is quite substatial to intorduce his films to the public which is a matter requiring a longer period of time
