Produksi Biomassa dan Karbon Bambu Apus (Gigantochloa apus kurz.)di Hutan Rakyat dan Peluangnya dalam Penerapan Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation Plus (REDD+) di Indonesia (Studi Kasus Hutan Rakyat Dusun Ngandong, Desa Girikerto, Kecamatan Turi, Sleman, D.I.Yogyakarta)

Abstract

Private forests have ecological functions and economic functions that can improve people's income. To obtain economic value but not impaired ecological functions, the required use of environmental services for the provision of incentives to the people who protect the forests that are expected to reduce deforestation and degradation. The REDD+ program provides incentives to the people who keep forests remain sustainable, therefore private forest bamboo apus is a good prospect to be developed in the REDD+ program as bamboo apus has been used for housing, furniture, and crafts which resulted in numerous requests to meet the needs of the society , beside that bamboo is classified as C4 plants have a higher ability to absorb carbon. The aims of the research are to determine the production of biomass and carbon bamboo apus (Gigantochloa apus kruz), differences in net production (Net Primary Productivition, NPP) when calculated using the three different methods, and identify opportunities of private forest bamboo apus species in the implementation of REDD+ in Indonesia. The research was conducted in Ngandong region, Girikerto village, Turi sub-district, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta. Data collection consist of measurements of field data, secondary data, and laboratory data. Total bamboo apus biomass private forest in Ngandong region, Girikerto village, Turi sub-district, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta amounted 466,0357 ton/ha and the total bamboo apus carbon in the private forest is 311,8052 ton/ha. Private forest production bamboo apus according to the summantion method is 62,86 ton/ha/year, while production forests according to miami models is 55.05 ton/ha/year, this method uses temperature and rainfall as measurement parameter, the value of forest production by temperature amounted to 25.04 ton/ha/year, while based on the value of forest production based rainfall 30.00 ton/ha/year. While the value of forest production by thornthwaite method was 26.91 ton/ha/year. Opportunity private forest bamboo apus species in implemantasi REDD+ programs improve the economic value of the public with an incentive for people to conserve forests, while the barriers in implemntasi REDD+ is cutting bamboo apus community property following the market demand and community institutions do not become a means of selling bamboo apus, so that community institutions do not have the strength to keep stock of private forests
