PERBEDAAN KEBOCORAN APIKAL PENGISIAN SALURAN AKAR MENGGUNAKAN SISTEM RESILON DAN SISTEM GUTA PERCA PADA SALURAN AKAR YANG KERING DAN BASAH

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the apical leakage differences between root canal filling using Resilon system and gutta percha system in dry and wet condition. The samples of this study were 28 mandibullary premolars prepared with crown down technique using K3 rotary file. The samples were divided into 2 groups consisting of 14 root canals for each group. Dry root canals were used for the first group but wet root were used for the second group. For group I and II, each group was again divided into 2 groups: group A was filled using gutta percha system, and group B was filled using Resilon system. All samples were stored in the incubator at 37ºC for 7 long days with 100% relative humidity. All root surfaces were coated with 2 layers of nail varnish and 1 layer of sticky wax except 2 mm surface in the apical. All samples were immersed in methylene blue solution for 1 week at 37ºC. Nail varnish was removed and the samples were cleared to observe the penetration of methylene blue. The penetration was observed using stereomicroscope with 60 magnifications measured in micrometer. The penetration of methylene blue was the indicator of apical leakage. The result of this research showed that the mean apical leakage of root canal obturated with gutta percha system in dry condition was 1.182,86 μm and in the wet condition was 2.348,57 μm. The mean apical leakage of root canal obturated with Resilon system in dry condition was 1.028,57 μm and in wet condition was 1.422,86 μm. The conclusion of this research showed there was no apical leakage difference between root canal filling using Resilon system in dry condition, Resilon system in wet condition and gutta percha system in dry condition but gutta percha system in wet condition showed higher apical leakage than the other groups
