Basic study for designing of bioartificial mucosa : computer simulation for the mucosal contraction

Abstract

Bioartificial mucosa which consists of fibroblast and collagen, is a convenient model for study of relationship between cell and intercellular substance. To design the bioartificial mucosa is not easy, as the mucosas contract itself to the smaller size than is anticipated. This study aims to propose a mathematical model of the mucosal contraction from the view point of biorheology. Computer simulations are executed to simulate the contraction. The simulated results show good coincidences with the experimental results of fibroblast cell cultures
