Abstract

In this work is described the development of a mental health informa-tional management model that is an integral part from the MD study plan of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana plantel Xochimilco (Autonomous Metropoli-tan University-Xochimilco, Mexico). Such model has been developed in order to improve student knowledge integration from module XI “Atención Integral al Adulto III” (Integral Attention to the Adult III) in the areas of Psychology, Sociol-ogy and Neurosciences. For that, current existence of good practice criteria over mental health related problems in the adult at the first level of medical care was de-termined by the Focus Group quantitative technique. A general scheme model was defined with the managerial procedures of information, such as a knowledge base with the Reasoning Case-based Paradigma (Paradigma de Razonamiento Basado en Casos; RBC), obligated referal of the MD career, a digital supported data base on mental health and systematization of the acquired knowledge from the model through an interactive digital system for group work. For the development of the procedures ATutor platform version 1.5.3, and Case-based Editor SISI version 2.0 were utilized as the electronic tools of choice. As a result, operation of this information management system had an impact in the ways of academic work, generating the need of specific information and allowing time optimization used in the search of such information by the usage of databases. Overall, this model improved case discussion at the same time that transformed the passive role of the student during the process and innovating current information searching method
