Self-efficacy and job satisfaction in teachers of a private educational institution in Lima

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the relationship between professional self-efficacy and work satisfaction. For that, the Professional Self-Efficacy (Maffei, Sponton, Sponton, Castellano & Medrano, 2012) and the Work Satisfaction Scale s20/23 (Meliá & Peiró, 1989) were applied to 193 teachers from 23 to 52 years old from different educational levels, of whom 130 are women and 63 are men. From these both instruments, it were obtained appropriate psychometric properties. The results showed that professional self-efficacy was positively correlated with Work Satisfaction proving the hypothesis. Likewise, moderate (rs ≥ .30) and low (rs < .30) correlations were obtained in terms of the variable Self-efficacy and the dimensions of job satisfaction (satisfaction with the climate, satisfaction with the physical environment, satisfaction with intrinsic motivation, satisfaction with supervision, satisfaction with the promotion). This result is related to previous research, which demonstrates the association of positive psychological factors with stimuli of job satisfaction.TesisLa presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre las variables autoeficacia profesional y satisfacción laboral en docentes de una institución educativa privada de Lima. Para ello, se aplicó la escala de Autoeficacia Profesional AU-10 (Maffei, Sponton, Sponton, Castellano & Medrano, 2012) y el cuestionario de Satisfacción Laboral s20/23 (Meliá & Peiró, 1989) a 193 docentes de 23 años a 52 años de edad de los distintos niveles educativos, donde 130 son mujeres y 63 son hombres. Para ambos instrumentos se obtuvieron adecuadas propiedades psicométricas. Los resultados demostraron que la autoeficacia profesional se relaciona de manera positiva con la satisfacción laboral, corroborando la hipótesis planteada. Así mismo, se obtuvo correlaciones moderadas (rs ≥ .30) y bajas (rs < .30) en cuanto a la variable Autoeficacia y las dimensiones de Satisfacción laboral (satisfacción con el clima, satisfacción con el ambiente físico, satisfacción con la motivación intrínseca, satisfacción con la supervisión, satisfacción con la promoción). Este resultado está relacionado a investigaciones anteriores, demostrando la asociación de los factores psicológicos positivos con los estímulos de satisfacción en el trabajo
