Black and white street photography in digital technique

Abstract

Ulična fotografija pokriva vrlo širok raspon stilova i tema. Nijedno drugo područje fotografije nije toliko raznoliko. Javni prostor je okruženje koje se neprestano mijenja i nudi širok spektar tema za fotografiranje. Iz čudnih kutova, mutne, izvan fokusa, ulične fotografije i dalje privlače pozornost i pripovijedaju zanimljive vizualne priče. Prvi dio završnog rada bavi se digitalnom fotografijom, njenim prednostima i manama, digitalnim fotoaparatima i digitalnom crnobijelom fotografijom. U dijelu o digitalnim crno-bijelim fotografijama, objasnit će se postupci pretvaranja digitalne fotografije u boji u crno-bijelu fotografiju u Adobe Photoshop programu, kako se obrađuju tonovi i koriste filteri na crno-bijeloj fotografiji. Dalje se u radu analizira ulična fotografija, pojam, njen razvoj i motivi. Objašnjava se razlika između, na prvu, dva vrlo slična žanra, ulične i dokumentarne fotografije. Nakon toga, analizira se rad najznačajnijih predstavnika ulične fotografije. U praktičnom dijelu rada predstavljen je portfolio crno-bijelih uličnih fotografija, tehničke karakteristike fotografija i korištena oprema.Street photography covers a very wide range of styles and subjects. No other area of photography is so diversified. The public space is an ever-changing environment and it offers a wide range of themes to capture it. From strange angles, blurry, out of focus, street photography continues to attract attention and tell interesting visual stories. The first part of the thesis describes digital photography, its advantages and disadvantages, digital cameras and digital black and white photography. The part on digital black and white photographs will explain the procedures for converting digital color photography to black and white in Adobe Photoshop, how tones are processed and filters used in black and white photography. Further on, the thesis analyzes street photography, the concept, its development and motives. Then, it is explained the differences between, at first two very similar genres, street and documentary photography. Next it is analyzed the work of the most important representatives of the genre. The practical part of thesis is a portfolio of black and white street photos, photos specifications and used equipment
