Analysis of curricular treatment of the music of Moors and Christians in music textbooks of Secondary School

Abstract

En este artículo se exponen los resultados obtenidos tras realizar un estudio sobre el tratamiento que recibe la Música de Moros y Cristianos (Música Festera) en los libros de textos de Música de la Comunidad Valenciana. Así, se analizó el tratamiento curricular de los libros de texto de música destinados a la Ed. Secundaria en la Comunidad Valenciana que recogen el folklore musical en sus contenidos y en concreto de la Música Festera. La revisión de estos contenidos muestra el escaso tratamiento que recibe la música popular, el folklore musical o las fiestas tradicionales dentro de la Enseñanza Secundaria, a pesar de que, según la ley, se debe reflejar en el currículo de la Comunidad y, por tanto, ser trabajado en el aula.This article reports the results obtained after conducting a study on the treatment of the Moors and Christians music (Música Festera) in the textbooks of the Valencia Region (Valencia Community, in Spain). Thus, we revised and analyzed the curricular treatment publishers in their different music textbooks collected folk music and in particular of the Música Festera, as required by law. The review of the curricular material that publishers edited and provide educational centers for the teaching of music in the secondary stage we reaffirmed on the little treatment popular music, musical folklore or secondary, teaching traditional celebrations while by law should be reflected in the curriculum of the community and, therefore, be worked in the classroom
