Abstract

Interview with Mr Norman WHETNALL. Born 5 July 1928, Lee Green, South London. Educated at Catford Central School. Financial journalist. Joined the Financial Times as a clerk in the Accounts department, 1943. After National Service in the RAF he returned to the Financial Times in 1946, first in the investment inquiry bureau, then in the prices room. Progressed to junior market reporter. In 1959 he became the Stock Market correspondent for the Daily Telegraph. Author of 'How the Stock Exchange Works' (1985)\ud \ud Date of recording: 27 June 1990. Access to the transcript and interview is under embargo until June 2011
