Abstract

Routine) is a popular software program used to optimize traffic signal progres-INCREASING AND sion on an arterial street. The emphasis of the program is to calculate the opti-DECREASING VOLUMES mal timing pattern for a group of signals. The optimal timing pattern is that HAVE ON OVERALL pattern which has the greatest proportion of the main street green time in the VEHICULAR DELAY AND progression band. The numeric value of this proportion is called “bandwidth THE EFFECTS THAT efficiency ” and is described in more detail later in this paper
