Comparison of Maximum Like Hood & Self Cancellation Schemes For ICI Reduction In OFDM

Abstract

(OFDM) OFDM is a promising applicant for accomplishing elevated data rates in mobile environment because of its multicarrier modulation technique and aptitude to convert a frequency selective fading channel into several nearly flat fading channels. For OFDM communication systems, the frequency offsets in mobile radio channels twist the orthogonality between subcarriers resulting in Inter Carrier Interference (ICI). ICI origins power leakage among subcarriers thus mortifying the system recital. A well-known trouble of OFDM is its sensitivity to frequency offset stuck between the transmitted and received carrier frequencies. We compare two methods to combat ICI: ICI Self Cancellation (SC) and Maximum likelihood (ML) method. These methods are judge against in terms of bit error rate and bandwidth efficiency.
