Abstract:- The concept of Quasi-Matched Filtering (QMF) is applied to the class of QAM symbol rate sampled receivers. The underlying principles and key design tradeoffs are presented. A composite optimization strategy to obtain physically realizable low-Q biquadratic QMF networks that meet in an optimal manner stringent in-band performance requirements is proposed. The superior performance of the proposed technique is verified by simulation results in both time and frequency domain, as well as by the nearly ISI-free eye-pattern and close to ideal BER curve of a QMF based 16QAM bandlimited digital receiver.
