La perspectiva intercultural en los libros para la enseñanza de lenguas modernas.Un enfoque histórico

Abstract

This paper analyses the pedagogical and practical approaches to the teaching of culture which were used in a range of popular French, Spanish, Italian and German grammars and text-books published in the XIX century in Europe and America. Series such as Ollendorff´s and Hossfeld´s show an understanding of cultural differences associated to the language of study as well as a practical consideration towards their students´needs which are reflected in the selection of linguistic material as well as in the creation of strategies for language and cultural learning
