Abstract

Starting from a generalization of the covariant derivative, we develop nonlocal gauge theories. These theories enjoy local gauge invariance and associated Ward identities, a corresponding locally conserved current, and a locally conserved energy-momentum tensor, with the Ward identities implying the masslessness of the gauge field as in local theories. The ultraviolet behavior of these theories for non-vanishing fermion mass parameter is sufficiently convergent to remove the Adler
