Phys. 46 (2005), no. 12, 122102, 21 pp. In this paper, a systematic study of different types of ladder operators for the Jaynes-Cummings model in the rotating-wave approximation is made using algebraic techniques. The link between the results obtained in this paper and previous studies on the diagonalization of the associated Hamiltonian is established. Using some of the ladder operators obtained previously, examples are given on the possibility of constructing a variety of interesting coherent states for the Jaynes
