Advanced Natural Language Processing Lecture 16

By Slides Bonnie Webber, Frank Keller and Pos Tags

Abstract

Where Supertagging fits into ANLP 1. Lecture 6 noted PoS-tagging as a first step towards syntactic analysis and other problems that could be framed as tagging tasks. ⇒ Supertagging is similar to PoS-tagging 2. Lecture 11 presented two lexicalized grammars in which words are associated with complex categories, representing the contexts in which the word can occur. ⇒ Supertagging labels each word with a complex category. 1 3. Lecture 14 showed how PS-rules can be collected from a treebank, their probabilites estimated, and the resulting probabilistic CFG (PCFG) used to assign the most probable parse structure to a string
