Abstract

Procurement in the humanitarian sector is a key support function to both permanent developmental projects and short-term temporary disaster relief operations. The procurement function has a significant impact on the overall costs and associated added value in both cases. This text is designed for those who have managerial responsibility for the procurement function within the humanitarian supply chain and will enable the learner to examine the role of the procurement function within the humanitarian sector and to examine the tools and techniques which are available to cope with the associated challenges
