Volunteering with Friends Groups Is Rewarding Experience

Abstract

The author discusses the role of libraries and books throughout his youth and professional career and his belief in their value to the community. Due to reduced state funding for public libraries, his family reportedly joined The Friends of The Libraries group to volunteer for fundraising efforts. It is stated that they sorted books and handled book sales and donations and have provided 80 percent of new books to those who need them
