Fotografías de lo invisible: Representando el espacio existencial del pasado

Abstract

This article reflects on the meaning of archaeological photography, not only as a tool for documenting the goods of the past, but as a way of representing its cultural imaginary from the recognition of its space, time and presence from the contemporaneity. It is based on the work of Javier Pérez González on the Antequera Dolmens Site, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2016. The author was the one who documented the eastern orientation of the dolmen of Viera, recording for the first time the entrance of the sun into the chamber during the sunrises of the spring and fall equinoxes. He proved the unique alignment of the dolmen of Menga towards La Peña de los Enamorados, once the olive tree had been removed from the threshold that had been blocking the view over the last few centuries. And he also collaborated in the identification of El Torcal as the landscape feature with which the tholos of El Romeral is aligned.Este artículo reflexiona sobre el sentido de la fotografía arqueológica, no sólo como una herramienta de documentación de los bienes del pasado, sino como una manera de representar su imaginario cultural a partir del reconocimiento de su espacio, tiempo y presencia desde la contemporaneidad. Se basa en la obra gráfica del artista Javier Pérez González sobre el Sitio de los Dólmenes de Antequera, declarado Patrimonio Mundial en el año 2016. El autor fue quien documentó la orientación del dolmen de Viera hacia el este, registrando por primera vez la entrada del sol en la cámara de Viera en el amanecer de los equinoccios de primavera y otoño. También confirmó la orientación singular del dolmen de Menga hacia La Peña de los Enamorados, una vez trasladado del umbral el olivo que la ocultó durante los últimos siglos. Asimismo, colaboró en la identificación de la zona de El Torcal hacia la que mira el tholos de El Romeral
