First Results from a Prototype CF3I SIMPLE Dark Matter Search Detector

Abstract

We report a SIMPLE test experiment based on a prototype CF3I superheated droplet detector with a total exposure of 0.024 kgd. The result, despite the low exposure, is seen to provide restrictions on the allowed phase space of both spinindependent and-dependent interactions which can be compared with those from the significantly larger searches in assessing the potential impact of a full-scale experiment.
