President's Address 2009 is an election year for the EUROMECH Council, which is the governing body of our Society. Five new members will be elected during the autumn. The Advisory Board (a list of current members is available on the web at www.euromech.org) will prepare a list of candidates for whom members of EUROMECH may vote in November-December 2009. Suggestions for candidates may be made to any member of the Advisory Board. If you wish to suggest a candidate, please make sure that he/she is willing to serve on the Council for six years. Please also supply a one page Curriculum Vitae and a complete address. The final choice of candidates will reflect both the need for some continuity with the remaining Council members and for a suitable distribution over the different countries in Europe. A sufficient representation of the different disciplines within fluid and solid mechanics should also be ensured. The new members of the Council will take office on 1 January 2010. Candidates will prepare biographical notes which will be available online and which will also be included in the Newsletter before the elections.
