This report presents the findings of the second part of a research project commissioned by the Research and Information on State Education (RISE) Trust with funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. The first part of the research project, published in March 2009 (West et al., 2009) provided an analysis of secondary schools’ admissions criteria and practices in England in light of the new legislative and regulatory context. The second part of the research, reported here, set out to provide some examples of how Admission Forums and local authorities have responded to recent changes in the law relating to secondary school admissions.
