Abstract

1. The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is seeking to commission a study that examines sustainability of the digital environment within the further and higher education sector. The study will be taken forward with particular reference to developments within the JISC Information Environment (IE), in particular, looking at the Information Environment Service Registry (IESR) and the Join – up article infrastructure projects. Recommendations on potential service and business models that support the distributed digital environment are sought. 2. This study is being taken forward as part of the new JISC Frameworks Programme. The aim of the JISC Frameworks programme is to ‘Develop and evaluate a framework to facilitate interoperability across learning, teaching, research and their supporting systems’. 3.
